All Members, Winter Residents, Family and Friends,
Greetings on this Monday. It is hard to believe that we are looking at the end of January already. In two weeks is the Lake Placid Country Fair which means it is Bratwurst time here at Trinity! This is truly a cooperative effort and we need so many volunteers to make this a success. We have people from all around who actually come and look for us just to buy the Bratwurst. So thank you in advance to everyone who has signed up to help with this project for 2023.
I would like to take a moment to address a situation that occurred two weeks ago in church. Unfortunately we ran out of wine during Holy Communion. This was the first time that I had experienced this in nearly 40 years of ministry. It was also the first time our faithful and wonderful members of the Altar Guild experienced this unfortunate situation. Each week the Altar Guild reviews the number of souls who communed last year and prepare for this year accordingly. Although the ladies did prepare an extra ½ tray when they saw the number of people in worship. Unfortunately though no one had an actual count of individuals in church in time to avoid the situation that unfolded. We now have a better understanding of how many to expect so the Altar Guild will be preparing more elements for this 2023 season. This past Sunday I suggested that we designate one usher, greeter or individual to actually use one of the two “Clicker Counters” that we have to count the people each week as they enter not after everyone is seated. This would allow the Altar Guild members enough time to at Trinity for 2023! Perhaps you may want to volunteer to be that person who will count individuals as they enter the sanctuary.
We are blessed to have so many wonderful people stepping up to volunteer for different roles within the church. Our Volunteer Fair has proven to be very benefitial. The effort of the Church Council and specifically President Mike Bardon has proven to be very helpful in finding individuals willing to serve the congregation.
The Church Council is still working with Atlantic Roofers and Mr. J.C. Shoop of Brown and Brown Insurance (formerly Heacock Insurance of Sebring) to get the maxium amount of money for this needed repair. Last week we requested a “change of agent” because our former agent was doing nothing to assist us. The size and scale of this project dictates the fact that we cannot do this project when Trinity Tots is in session. We have scheduled the repair to be accomplished the week of March 13th-17th, 2023. This is a week that school will be out for spring break. Unfortunately for the safety of all involved the church will be closed. It has been requested that NO one drives down near the front door because of nails or falling debris from the roof and carport. We will be cancelling our Mid-Week Lenten Service for that week as well and all activities will need to be suspended for that week. We are announcing this in advance so that arrangements may be made for alternative dates for meetings. For further information speak with President Mike Bardon.
The Congregation of Faith Lutheran Church, Sebring, Florida has invited all of you to attend their 70th Anniversary of Ministry. Thee will be a special celebration February 26, 2023 at 3:00PM in their Fellowship Hall/Basement of the congregation.
