All Members, Winter Residents, Family and Friends,
Greetings on this Monday, July 24, 2023! As we head into this final week of July, for many the end of summer vacation is in sight. Schools here in Florida return August 10th, 2023. Trinity Tots had a summer program and we had some students all summer long. But now all the classrooms are being put back together by the teachers after Susan washed and waxed all the floors and shampooed the capets. On August 10th the hall and classrooms will be filled with 3 and 4 year olds as the new school year begins. So please remember when you come to visit that the students will be in the building as well.
This coming Friday and Saturday the Annual Caladium festival will be held here in Lake Placid. They have reduced the festival to only two days, Friday and Saturday. Sadly many of the familiar Caladiums growers from here in Lake Placid will not be present this year because of the extensive damage hurricane Ivan caused to the crops. But there will be food and entertainments. And of course there will be bratwurst sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church and Trinity Tots Preschool. So if you have a hankering for a bratwurst stop by the booth behind the covered pavilion where the entertainment is centered. Susan is still looking for some help, so giver her a call this week to volunteer.
There will be NO Men’s Breakfast this Saturday because many of the men will be working at the festival.
Unfortunately I forgot to include Rev. Olckers in the prayers on Sunday. He is suffering from a back injury following lifting and moving heavy concrete blocks. Keep in in you prayers.
Two weeks ago in the Weekly Tidings for July 10th, I offered a commentary of awareness concerning an event that took place here in Lake Placid. I apologize to all of you who take the time to read my weekly emails for the language I used to describe the behavior of those who participate in such activities. It was harsh and I should not have used such terminology. We are all sinners needing the grace of our Heavenly Father for our individual behavior. No sin or sins are greater or lesser than any other sins. So I apologize for the strong wording of my post on July 10th, 2023.
I have attached my sermon for this coming Sunday, July 30th, 2023.
Have a great week and don’t forget to come get your Bratwust or your favorite food treat this Friday and Saturday at the Caladium Festival.
Respectfully In Christ,
Rev. Richard A. Norris
